In celebration of the National Arts Month 2024, the Philippine Embassy features the following artists with significant contribution to the advancement of cultural diplomacy between the Philippines and Lebanon:
MARVIN BALDEMOR, a self-taught artist based in Letterkenny, Ireland. His art focused on themes depicting traditional life and rural scenes in the Philippines.
Marvin Baldemor's works were featured in the first-ever Philippine art exhibition in Beirut on 13 June 2014 entitled ‘A Journey of Colors'.
His work featured herein entitled "Sa Aming Nayon" (oil on canvas) was donated to the Philippine Embassy in Lebanon. It depicts the quintessential Filipino rural living. The painting is currently on display at the chancery's grand hall.
MIGUEL KAIRUZ, is a Filipino-Lebanese visual artist based in Laoag, Ilocos Norte. He draws inspiration from folk arts in a figurative expressionism style.
His work featured herein entitled "Dancing in Beirut" (oil on canvas) was commissioned by the Philippine Embassy in Lebanon to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the diplomatic relations of the two countries.
AMIRA AL ZEIN, a Lebanese-Filipino self-taught visual artist, merges her extensive background in social work and international relations with a passion for "Art with a Cause." With years of experience in Education, NGOs, and international relations, she champions the rights of children, youth, and women. Her art, complemented by versatile writing, shatters stereotypes and addresses societal issues.
Armed with a paintbrush and pen, she aspires to provoke thought, action, and change, recognizing the significance of even small efforts in making a difference.
CARMEN AHWACH, a Filipino-Lebanese visual artist and graphic designer based in Beirut. Her works are inspired by flora and botanicals, and often revolve around themes of the ego, introspection, and the duality of cultures.
