H.E. Ambassador Raymond R. Balatbat met with Lebanon’s General Directorate of General Security, Major General  Elias Baisary, on 6 November 2023, to discuss the Philippine Embassy’s contingency plans and the ongoing voluntary repatriation of Filipino nationals in light of the heightened tensions in the southern Lebanon.

Ambassador Balatbat informed Major General Baisary of the Philippine government’s ongoing efforts to repatriate Filipino nationals who wish to return to the Philippines due to the current security situation and requested the expeditious processing of exit clearances.

The Director-General responded favorably and assured the Embassy of the General Security’s readiness to provide assistance and support to Filipino nationals in Lebanon.

The Philippine Embassy, along with the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), continue to provide relevant advisories to ensure the welfare and security of Filipino nationals in Lebanon and accept applications for voluntary repatriation.
