BEIRUT - The Philippine Embassy in Lebanon conducted a lecture on anti-trafficking in persons on 14 March 2023 at the Collège de la Sagesse St. Jean Brasilia School. The lecture is among the activities of the first Philippine Week Festival held from 13-17 March 2023 jointly organized by the Embassy in partnership with the school.
Vice Consul Cabatingan talks about the Philippines’ Anti Trafficking-In-Persons model
Third Secretary and Vice Consul Miko Cabatingan presented the Philippine model in combating Trafficking-In-Persons (TIP). He explained the definition of TIP and discussed the different forms of exploitation of its victims, among other issues faced by migrants, especially in labor migration. The presentation highlighted the Philippine’s extensive experience and strong mechanism in combating trafficking through the discussion of adhered international conventions and national legal frameworks, including the government’s provision of assistance to nationals.
Around 300 students from grades 9 to 12 attended and actively participated during the lecture. The said briefing among students aims to raise awareness among the Lebanese youth on TIP as a human rights issue and to highlight the roles of each individual in preventing the exploitation of potential victims anywhere in the world.

Philippine Week is intended to celebrate and increase awareness and appreciation of Philippine history and culture among Lebanese students and teachers. Students from different grade levels participated in various activities conducted throughout the week which culminated in a cultural program held on 17 March 2023. END.
