The Philippine Embassy, together with the Indonesian and Malaysian embassies in Lebanon, celebrated the 55th Founding Anniversary of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations or ASEAN through a sports day event on 12 August 2022. The ASEAN embassies organized bowling games among the embassies' personnel to further enhance friendship and camaraderie.

In his welcome remarks, Ambassador Raymond R. Balatbat expressed appreciation to all the participants who attended the event and looked forward to more joint activities involving personnel from the ASEAN embassies. The event is the first activity jointly organized by the three ASEAN embassies in Lebanon since the COVID-19 pandemic began in 2019.

ASEAN, established on 8 August 1967, is an international organization that aims to accelerate economic growth, social progress, and cultural development and to promote peace and security in Southeast Asia. The Philippines, Indonesia, and Malaysia were among the founding members of ASEAN.
