30 December 2017 –The Philippine Embassy in Lebanon held a simple program to honor the heroism and legacy of Dr. Jose Rizal on his 121st death anniversary on 30 December 2018. Special guests were the wards sheltered at the Migrant Workers and Other Filipinos Resource Center(MWOFRC).
In her remarks, Ambassador Catalla urged attendees to emulate Rizal’s life overseas by upholding the best of Filipino values to bring pride to the Filipino nation. Among others, she reminded them to work with dignity and to follow the laws and regulations of their host countries at all times.
The death anniversary commemorative program consisted of the singing of "Lupang Hinirang", introductory remarks by Ambassador Catalla, a reading by Mrs. Melissa Mancenido of an excerpt of Dr. Rizal’s farewell poem “Mi Ultimo Adios”, and a shared Filipino breakfast with the Embassy wards. In the afternoon, The Embassy showed a documentary on Dr. Rizal’s life overseas, his family ties, and the final moments before his death.END
