03 January 2017 – The Philippine Embassy in Lebanon commemorated the 120th Death Anniversary of the country’s national hero, Dr. Jose P. Rizal, led by Chargé d’ Affaires Enrik Fort E. Revillas, together with Vice Consul Grace Perpetua, Labor Officer Bulyok Nilong, Welfare Officer Allan Baban, Beirut PE, Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) officers and staff as well as Filipinos sheltered in the Embassy’s Migrant Workers and Overseas Filipinos Resource Center (MWOFRC).
The commemoration of Dr. Rizal’s death anniversary started with the singing of the Philippine National Anthem led by Administrative Officer Carmelita Duarte. Information Officer Loremie Bautista read one of Dr. Rizal’s poem entitled “Pinatutula Ako.”
CDA Revillas gave a brief introduction to highlight the importance of commemorating the death anniversary of the Philippines’ national hero. He stressed in particular, the life of Dr. Rizal as a migrant Filipino to the countries of Europe and Japan. He encourage everyone be cultivate each skills and characteristics and bring home an improved version of oneself; as Dr. Rizal did during his years away from the Philippines.
After the simple ceremony, the Embassy, POLO and OWWA Officers and Staff posed for a photo with Dr. Jose Rizal’s bust, which was donated by the National Commission for Culture and Arts (NCCA). END
