29 June 2016 – Lebanon’s highest-ranking career official of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants (MFAE) Secretary General Dr. Wafiq Rhaime hosted a farewell luncheon in honor of Philippine Ambassador to Lebanon Leah M. Basinang-Ruiz at La Maillon Restaurant, Achrafieh last June 16.
Accompanying Ambassador Rhaime during the luncheon were MFAE Director of Political and Consular Affairs Ambassador Charbel Wehbe and MFAE Chief of Protocol Ambassador Mira Daher Violides.
Also in attendance were Ambassador of Japan H.E. Seiichi Otsuka, Ambassador of Malaysia H.E. Bala Chandran Tharman and Ambassador of Poland H. E. Wojciech Bożek.
In his welcome remarks, Ambassador Rhaime congratulated Ambassador Ruiz on the Embassy’s sustained initiatives to enhance and deepen the people-to-people linkages between the two countries. In her brief reply, Ambassador Ruiz highlighted the Embassy preparations for the celebration of the 70th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Lebanon and the Philippines on October 24, 2016.
